Welcome!!

Thank you for visiting the new and improved Bernloco! We are ever in the process of transformation and appreciate your patience as we learn this software and find the words we want to share with you. We are a group of volunteers and do this in our free time...if anybody would like to donate time or expertise to website development, please call Leigh Mason at 314-0467.

Who we are
The Bernalillo County Local Collaborative is an advocacy group committed to uniting the voices of all people involved with the behavioral health care system in Bernalillo County. We unified after the passage of HB271 in 2003, which transformed New Mexico’s behavioral health care system. We represent over 200 members who touch thousands of lives throughout the county, state, nation, and world.

Mission
To unite the voices of those involved with behavioral health care in Bernalillo County through advocacy, empowerment, and collaboration for positive change.

Vision
A world where mental health is a priority , behavioral health care is a right, and all stakeholders are involved in establishing a full array of services.

How to Get Involved
If you want to get involved with the Bernalillo County Local Collaborative, we would love to have you!

We are working on many projects, and could use your help. Our general membership meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of every month from 5:30-7:00 at the First Unitarian Church, located at the southwest corner of Comanche and Carlisle. All people are always welcome.

We are also looking for people who would be interested in working on our mentorship project. If you have ever received behavioral health services, or if you are a family member of a person who has received behavioral health services, and you are interested in either mentoring somebody in advocacy or being mentored, please contact Sarah at crabbiecake@gmail.com.

Note: We use the umbrella term "behavioral health." By this term we mean all mental health and substance abuse diagnoses, as well as the autism spectrum and brain injury. We also mean any co-occurring combination of the aforementioned. Behavioral health is not just about people with diagnoses: it is about wellness for all people.  Behavioral health is about prevention, intervention, and accessible, affordable, voluntary services for all people who need and or want them.
